AP Human Geography is a year-long course designed to meet the experience of an introductory one-semester college human geography course. The purpose of the course is to utilize geographic processes to systematically study and understand spatial patterns that are evident in the world in which we live. Students through the course of the year will analyze the systematic study of patterns and processes that have shaped human behavior, understanding, and usage and manipulation of the earth surface. Units of study will include geographic perspectives, population and migration, cultural differences and regional patterns, contemporary political changes, agriculture (food production and land use), industrial development and environment, contemporary human rights issues, and community connections. An analysis and synthesis of those events and significant individuals will be done on a continuous basis using multiple resources, documents, media (songs, video, internet, newspapers, primary sources), as well as required texts.
